Daily Coffee Talk~ 86/365

Have you every had the feeling that even when you are alone, you are really not?

In my mind, there is never a dull moment. Thoughts, ponders, queries, hopes, questions, memories, investigations, plans, connecting of dots, and yes, sometimes fears and worries.

I am finding it difficult to not be concerned about what is happening around me in Europe. How can anyone not be? But why are we feeling the pain of others so much more acutely? Has something changed in the conductivity of the world?

It is quite unfathomable what humans are capable of doing to other humans in the search of their own self glory and greedy agendas.

So myself is telling me today to keep going, to keep hoping, to continue sending strength and good thoughts toward the innocent people caught up in this crazy war and to know that there is always light behind the darkness.

The color of simple existence ~ Myanmar

My favorite places to travel and capture images are those where life is still simpler and where basic living is the color of the day. In those places color is celebrated not managed and there is a refreshing freedom of whimsical mix and match.

Daring to face the unknown~

It was as real as a recurring dream~ New Zealand

The more we learn, the less we know. As we open doors to unknown territory with our questions, (as we quest more ions), we realize how much more there is to know. A beautiful day on the beach is a starry night at a different time of the day and what seems to be truth is just another facet of the great unknown.

The magic lies in the journey and not the destination, as we, in our impatience and need for instant gratification seem to forget.

Faceless Urbanism

the current of faceless humanity
the current of faceless humanity

How often do I catch myself walking in the city with my eyes down watching the pavement and the flow of faceless people passing by. The city can do that to us, it can make us reduce humanity to a flow of bodies passing by, forgetting that each one of them has a story, a life and a face.

redefining magic
redefining magic

Being in New Zealand feels as close as I can imagine a healthy planet to be. I visited and was enchanted with this beach at Karekare about 20 years ago and coming back to it now, it still is as clean, as unpolluted and as undeveloped as it was back then. What a stark contrast to the pollution we live through in a city like Shanghai, and how refreshing it is to find ourselves under big blue skies.

Merry Christmas to you all from warm and fresh New Zealand. Kiaora!

rainy contemplations~ China

The rain, it has the power to enforce a stillness, a sense of calm, a blanketed silence, and inside of that we can somehow think more peacefully…

I love capturing memories of raindrops, umbrellas and the brave ones who walk and think in the rain.

The absence of stillness

absence of stillness
absence of stillness~ Seoul

We live in a universe where nothing is ever still. All is moving at different speeds from the slow to the mind boggling, inconceivably fast. Even in sleep, parts of us travel, they dream, they journey into worlds unknown. In the minutest of worlds, protons and neutrons are pulsing and living.

To travel in mental faculties, in heart, in soul and in art…

Conformity~ an override to our personal creativity

passer by~ Seoul
passer by~ Seoul

There are times when the ideas and thoughts that sprout out of our fertile imagination appear to be out of this world to our reasoning mind. We tend to compare them to what has been done before or to what the current trend is and then hurry to dismiss them as a state of temporary madness. But what if new art can only arrive to us in a new never before seen form? What if it must look crazy for it to be real? What if it demand us to be brave enough to step into the realms of the unknown for it to show itself?

Searchers along the way

searchers along the way~Seoul
searchers along the way~Seoul

We live to search and we spend our whole life looking for its meaning. I love that fact. I strive to be in the wonder of the quest itself not minding what I find or what remains a mystery. Life is filled with magic and I feel so lucky to feel it every single day. Truth is such an enigma and I wonder if we are ever meant to find it or to just dwell on the process.

At certain speeds the world becomes gentler

She walked in color
She walked in color

For those of us who live in big cities, life can be overwhelmingly abrasive. The speeds we are forced to run at, the massive amount or impressions we need to process on a daily basis, the number of people we meet and pass by, the so many obstacles we have to navigate around to get from one point to the next, all these things force us to run fast and to move at the speed dictated by the engine of the metropolis.

I have recently discovered that you can enter a bubble where the world slows down, a magical dimension, where the city can become gentle, ethereal and its humans like butterflies fluttering by.
