A brief journey back to the place I once called home~

I have have lived in several places since my birth, but only one stands out as the place that challenged me most, charmed me most and formed me most. New York City is a place I will always call home. I am so happy to go back there soon and walk in the places I used to walk for almost 16 years. The friends you make in New York are friends for life and so are the experiences. I can’t wait.

On January 27th I will be offering a half-day creative street photography workshop in New York City! Please get In touch if you are interested. All experience levels, all camera, all ages welcome 😊~

Derailed humanity~ Tokyo

derailed humanity~ Tokyo
derailed humanity~ Tokyo

The human story has its sad chapters; the ones that star as the unfortunate characters; the ones we look away from when we pass them in the streets. This post is for them; a gentle reminder…

Day Two Hundred Ninety Four, November 12, 2011

like ghosts they walk

The streets are their home, their lives nomadic, moving from place to place, staring at nothingness, invisible to others, just passing by, walking like ghosts. I look, I wonder, what their stories are, what wrong turns landed them where they are today, what were they before, what toys they played with as children, what made them giggle…

Day Two Hundred Eighty Three, November 1, 2011

despair is a hard floor bed

They are in every big city, the hosts of despair. They are the faceless people that cause us most of the time to grab on tightly to our loved ones and thank the heavens that we have a home. How does one get there? At what point in a life does it get so impossible to have a friend to turn to, a family member to take you in? And how many times out of 10 do we turn away at the sight of despair? This image is a tribute to all of those who help, who do something useful and real by sacrificing their time and effort to ending homelessness.

homeless in Shanghai

Can you imagine being all alone and homeless in a city of 20 million?

Can you imagine having to live on discarded scraps?

Can you imagine survival being your only obsession?

unable to look the other way today…
