A Grey Day in Istanbul ~

A Grey Day in Istanbul ~

Turkish beauty ~
Water everywhere ~
Have you had Turkish tea?~
The hustle and bustle~
After all the rain~

It rained most of the day today In Istanbul. Rain has this way of forcing it’s mood on you, doesn’t it? There is a sense of containment and going inwards, where if you had the choice, you would curl indoors with a book or bake cookies.

I love rain photography, when reflection, rain drops and moody skies abound. Istanbul delivers all that and more.

You can even find the smiles between all the grumpiness of bad weather if you search for them hard enough.

A Fresh New Beginning~

As the fresh new snow blankets the ground and lays a layer of white powder on everything standing still, it feels like a permission for a new beginning. All is still, all is clean, all is white and a new chapter can now begin.

Yesterday the sun was shining as it still is today and the whole day, snowflakes shimmered in the sun, floating, dancing and eventually landing gently on surfaces, each in its unique glory.

Despite the bitter cold, I kept finding myself jumping up, grabbing my camera and heading outdoors to try and capture the magic of what was going on.

Let’ see what today brings…

Rescued by Art~

On yet another gloomy winter day in Duesseldorf

museums and art galleries can save your soul
This image was created by using in camera multiple exposure of a photograph I took of a fellow photographer and an exhibited gallery photograph, I love what the camera did with the head and eye …

Of men and birds~

This man sat quietly smoking on the edge on the bustling Champs-Élysées as people walked all around and birds flew by. He was still there on my way back an hour later.

Paris

Showing too little to show too much~

There is a joy that I find in keeping a large part of the image to the viewer’s imagination in photography. The story half told leaves room for dreams and subjective visions.

From the peaceful German countryside ~

How good it feels to escape for a day or two. To be with nature and away from the normal. Breaking habitual living makes all fresh again.

Wishing you all a peaceful end of the week!

Day 88 of 365~

Time, motion and perception~

Everything moves at various speeds in our world, even the the life we call ‘still’. How we perceive this motion in relation to space and time is key to composition.

Random morning thoughts on photography.

In distant dreams~

in distant dreams~_

I was going through my archives of hundreds of thousands of photographs as one often does, when I came across this image of my daughter when she was 4 years old running through the cedars of Lebanon and it made me catch my breath. She is now 13, and time has tricked us all again. How relentless it is, never pausing, never letting us catch our breath. It is always later than we think, isn’t it? So many unrealized intentions, how does one keep up with life, or should we at all?

Pausing and dreaming today in the moment of what was, what is and what will be…

Day 57 of 365~

Breaking out of our self-made prisons~

self made prisons~ Kashgar

It has been said that the chains that bind us are mostly self-manufactured by our own self-esteem and pride. Personal development is an uncomfortable journey upward and into the unknown, if only we dare.
