Daily Coffee Talk~ 73/365

Hi again from Germany.

The sun is finally shining bright the and the days are starting to stretch and yawn loudly with the music of birds around here.

Where do the birds hide in winter time? You still see some of them here and there but as spring comes closer they start to sing their little hearts out in joy.

After another pandemic winter confinement, you can almost feel the urge in everyone to run outdoors and sing their song.

Hoping for a peaceful spring time of creativity and that the war that is threatening to happen in Europe fizzles down to sane talks instead. Because honestly, we need a break!

Tribal Ethnic Woman~ Yunnan, China

Today this image of the ethnic woman that I took in China triggered in me thoughts of lightness and weight. As I live and get older I feel the weight of my history and all that has happened in it.

I picture my life events as packages and bags that we have had to carry and as time goes on they can slow us down and keep us from moving forward and especially upward.

How do we let go of the weight and find the lightness we enjoyed as children?

Interestingly, most of my dreams that I diagnose as stress induced include suitcases, travel and items that are missing from them and time pressing on the whole situation and turning the level of stress to unbearable till I wake up.

Do we only let go of the weight when we pass on? Or can we start the shedding now, as we live, and be lighter and brighter?

I wish you a light and effervescent day ahead.

Morning Coffee Talk~ 33/354

Good Morning,

It has been raining so much here in Dubai the last two days, it reminds me that anything can happen despite our projections and familiar expectations.

A good resolution this for me this year is openness mixed with flexibility to be able to meet the unknown with more resilience.

The future is here and maybe it arrived before our awareness of it. I hope to celebrate it with art and creativity. It may very well be the language it understands.

Morning Coffee Talk~ 21/365

Good Morning,

Today the Winter Solstice takes place at 10:59 local time here in Germany. Our beautiful planet will start to swing her hips back the other way and tilt her axis to begin our journey into longer days. We start the astronomical winter today and changes are expected to happen, well because they actually do.

‘Solstice’ comes from the latin Solstitium mean literally ‘sun stand still’. Between summer time and now we saw the sun’s path in the sky move gradually from north to south. For a few days before and after the solstice, the sun’s path appears to show no change, so it stands still, before starting to change northwards, as our days get longer.

This is all incredibly fascinating to me, and we can never say that the celestial bodies we live on and around are ever boring. So much tradition and folklore exists throughout history about this event, but for us here now, I just want to acknowledge it, light a candle to signal the start of longer days and welcome the winter and what new possibilities my be lying in store for us.

This Too Shall Pass~

This year we have all lived to some extent the opening words of ā€˜Tale of two cities’, haven’t we?

Upheaval, breakdown of old systems, pandemic, loss, economic collapse, social and physical isolation, poverty, fear, uncertainty, extreme weather, unstable leadership and so much more…

Yet, somehow, something extremely bright filters through our planet at this time, this planet of duality. At the darkest of times the brightest of times have a chance to manifest. Hope is always here for a better world and an incandescent tomorrow. All we have to do is believe and look at history to prepare for our future in our present.

Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season. May we see peace, hope and sanity in the near future for this resilient human race.

The lighter side of being~

To look up every once in a while

To see what sees more than we see

To believe in something higher

To live with the magic of the unseen

Is to live and live and live

The Urgent Call for Frequency Upgrade~

Every once in a while, we humans get this unrelenting urge to make a change, to alter our circumstances in order to make room for a new frequency to make home in our lives and the urge is so persistent that if we do not succumb to it, pain can ensue in our own lives.

This makes me sympathize with creatures that migrate across land and ocean to be where they are meant to be.

As Close as it Gets to Heaven~ Inle LakeĀ

Some places on our planet are just breathtakingly beautiful, but with Inle it’s not just that, it’s people, the light, the birds, the gentle nature of the dream like landscape; they all come together to make a paradise you wish you never have to leave. All I can think of leaving it is how and when to come back.

6 Hours in Istanbul

IMG_1816IMG_1852IMG_1721IMG_1805IMG_1825IMG_1832

It was 5:50 am, after a long flight from Shanghai to Beirut, 6 hours in Istanbul held 2 different promises: to sit in coffee shops staring at passing strangers, reading a book, watching my phone screen and drinking endless cups of coffee and tea; or getting a visa, finding my way into the old quarter and discovering a city I have always longed to see.

The answer was as vivid as the ornate roof of the Ayasofia. It was likeĀ stepping through a magic door into a world of wonder, domes, arches, well mannered people (it was early morning after all and too early for bad moods to reach anyone) and amazing foods and drinks to sample.

I love traveling so much and as far as photography goes, these lone journeys are moments of soul searching and discovery. So yes, I would take adventure and the unknown anytime over airport layovers.

Day 8~ November 8th~ New York

the daily escape

Out of about 4 million people found in New York City on a given day, only about 1.6 million are local residents. Most of the rest are travelling back and forth in and out of the magical island.
