Daily Coffee Talk~ 65/365

Lea at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea~

Hi everyone, wherever you may be,

I hope that everyone is doing well in the midst of all the uncertainty that swirls around us on planet earth these days.

At the end of the day, we all have so much to be grateful for. Here is my list of 10 for today:

*whatever created me and gave me life

* my beautiful daughter

* being alive

* being healthy

* having a home

* my fiends

* my brain

* my well functioning faculty

* coffee

* art being art and existing in this world

What are you grateful for today?

fading memories~

Hi again, I almost forgot how fast projects like this go when you start them and how merciless time is…

How much of your childhood do you remember? For me it is short salient moments of intense emotion, some life changing moments that left permanent scars, or pleasant memories like the smell of my swimsuit when my mother took it out of storage for the first trip to the beach…

Why are we designed to forget? It could have been easily tweaked that we remember everything, couldn’t it have been? I do understand the need to forget pain, but what about everything else?

And most importantly, if you do believe that this is not your first life, then why do we arrive here empty?

At my age you sometimes forget what you’ve set about to do moments ago, so this memory thing needs some thorough investigation, don’t you think?

free at last~

Hi my friends,

Lea’s quarantine ended today! We have a negative covid test and the birds are singing again in our neighbourhood. You don’t realise the importance of human contact till you go 10 days without it.

We have been smiling a lot today, hugging and being silly. I am grateful for her recovery and wish for this global pandemic to disappear and allow for a new kind of normalcy to return.

Stay healthy and well. Happy and gratefully signing off from Germany.

wishing on a star~

Hi again,

Today I decided to create a small animation from a favourite photograph of mine simply to wish you a bright weekend, a better tomorrow, an a healthy year.

This is especially dedicated to my beautiful daughter Lea, who sits in quarantine upstairs, and I miss her so much. The hand in the image is hers and the starfish was put back in to the sand safely.

Morning Coffee Talk~ 33/354

Good Morning,

It has been raining so much here in Dubai the last two days, it reminds me that anything can happen despite our projections and familiar expectations.

A good resolution this for me this year is openness mixed with flexibility to be able to meet the unknown with more resilience.

The future is here and maybe it arrived before our awareness of it. I hope to celebrate it with art and creativity. It may very well be the language it understands.

Weathering the Storm~ Lebanon

Good Morning,

This morning I am casting my mind and thoughts towards my home country, Lebanon. My thoughts are with its people, my family, and everyone affected by the economic breakdown that this beautiful country has been and is still going through.

A phrase came to mind upon waking this morning: “all the concentrated darkness in the world cannot put out the light of a single candle”. Lebanon has always glowed like a candle in the night, through its people, colours, sunshine, snow-capped mountain tops, art, history, food, its sea, and the bright radiant love of life and hope that has lifted it through the many wars, occupations and difficult times throughout history.

So today, sending a bucketful of love to my Lebanon. This too shall pass.

Daring to face the unknown~

It was as real as a recurring dream~ New Zealand

The more we learn, the less we know. As we open doors to unknown territory with our questions, (as we quest more ions), we realize how much more there is to know. A beautiful day on the beach is a starry night at a different time of the day and what seems to be truth is just another facet of the great unknown.

The magic lies in the journey and not the destination, as we, in our impatience and need for instant gratification seem to forget.

Day 60 of 365~

The Best Things in Life are Hard to Reach~ Boracay

Boracay, a green and white gem in the middle of a blue sea, blessed with a panorama of clouds and a ongoing theater of sky and water on and impossibly large canvas, is not easy to travel to. Almost like giving birth, painful as difficult, but still you would do it again and being there makes the journey all worth it.

Blue sea, yellow sun, green trees, inner peace…

Mysteries are there to drive us into dreams

in the ocean of her imagination
in the ocean of her imagination

Would we want to live in a world where all was predetermined, where nothing was hidden, where the answers were handed to us at birth? I take the search and the mystery over certainty and the unknown with its myriad of possibilities over the already known. It is in the future where all adventures lie in wait.
