Have you ever frozen time, captured perfection, wrapped it in a bubble and discovered your Eutopia? To do that even once, is to come closer to who we were meant to be…
When living life feels like riding a fast train and impressions start colliding on all sides of us blinding us to who we are, then perhaps it would be wise to stop and reassess our location. Clarity comes from knowing where we are and who we are, stopping while the world blurs away around us because how else are we ever going to see clearly?
Do you remember the last time you felt as light as a feather, and free as a little butterfly? Wasn’t it the breeze of inspiration that lifted you above the worries of the world? The magic of art in all its forms can do that to me.
When the world quiets down, when the mind expands, when time gains elasticity, when the hands buzz and tickle, when peripheral vision activates, when a strange kind of awareness attends you, when you become so focused on the task at hand, when you are transported to a dimension you can only call ‘other’, when you feel the process of being a vehicle for art, an instrument of art, when ‘you’ step out of the way for ‘it’ to do its work… then perhaps you are living the state of the artist.

Today I had an exchange of thoughts with a friend, it was brief, but it had enough power to stir up some deeper contemplations as life is sometimes so magical…
And I dwelled a lot on photography, on the reason we do it, the purpose for it and what it can actually do as an art form. The word revelation came to mind. Later looking at my photos from today, I stopped at this one and thought again, revelation. There is a very brief moment that can often and most of the time be missed in our rushed lives, where some truth coming from somewhere is revealed to us if we choose to stand still to receive it. It is crystal clear, in focus and it stands out in the middle of all the chaos. It is a moment of clarity… a gift, a revelation.

Today was a day of looking at balances, re-arranging thoughts, deep contemplations, and searching for rhythms. There is a rhythm in the rain that can lull you to sleep if it falls gently, there is also rhythm in the city lights that pass by your window as you sail through the busy streets. Rhythm is everywhere, in our heartbeat, in the days, in the nights, in the tides and in the birth and death of every living thing.
