Morning Coffee Talk~10/365

Good morning,

Balance is on my mind today. I am looking outside my window and seeing how on top of a very large pine tree a bird is standing gracefully on a single thin branch in the freezing morning air, gently looking around and scanning the quiet neighbourhood as the cold wind moves the tree back and forth. The bird is unaffected by the movement and seems to surf the wind with so much ease.

So did the fishermen of Inle Lake in Myanmar. If you ever get the chance to witness them going about their tasks as they balance on their little wooden boats, it is a sight not to be forgotten. The inner quiet that goes along with their way of life is contagious and it leaves you with a distinct sense of balance and peace.

If I were to focus on one quality to aim for today, it would be just that, balance with the aim of remaining intact inside of the rushing river of my day.

Wishing you a balanced day and peaceful end of the week.

Day 27~ August 27th~ Boracay

balance is a very thin line

With all the changing and shifting weights of our lives, how do we retain our balance? If balance is a very thin line that we need to walk on, then how do we guarantee our stability when life tries to push us left and right?

nature's way~ a walk in the woods

Nature is to most of us a place of peace and harmony. It is so because its laws are constant, reliable, reassuring. The sun rises every day, the moon keeps its regular cycle of waxing and waning, the seasons keep their repetitive cycle, the flowers keep blooming in the Spring and the bees keep coming back for their nectar.

This sense of harmony and rhythm is soothing, pacifying, pleasing to the human soul. When we are feeling a lack of harmony, a slow walk in the forest or in a garden has a magical way of realigning us and even helping us in our decision-making process. Much I feel has to do with a slowing down that happens which allows us to be in synch with nature.

So a walk in the woods~ it can reveal so much when done at the right speed and with the right intentions.

Day Ninety Two, April 24, 2011

balance

Balance: how important it is in our lives. It is such a delicate dance, trying to find the middle place where life is harmonious. It is so difficult to live a balanced life with the pulls, tugs and demands of our daily goings on. And still it is so important to find it, to stand still for a moment and find that place again, where life is not too daunting, where stresses are kept at bay, and where values and standards are the main importance. And when balance is achieved, it is such a graceful sight!
