Never before have I felt so unsure about what the future holds as I do today. Every morning, a new story in the news stranger than the next, wold leadership try to force the strangest and lowest of standards as the new norm and the first signs of tremors as the future threatens to eradicate the past. Anyone not feeling this must be sleep walking through life and bouncing from distraction to escape. How did we get here and what will our children’s world look like?
It’s the human way to sympathize with our fellow residents of human earth. It’s a shared space and we could use to be more respecting of our beautiful planet and it’s inhabitants. Thinking of where we are and where we are heading today. Investigative thoughts on an otherwise calm day in Germany.
Day 89 of 365~
Are we here for the planet or is the planet here for us?
Something to carefully ponder.
Day 82 of 365~
Doesn’t sometimes seem absolutely mind boggling that we actually walk, talk, eat and sleep on a huge ball? And it’s spinning so fast around its axis! And it’s whirling at a stunning speed around the sun! And is part of a galaxy that’s wizzing inside space to god knows where! How can anyone be ever bored knowing this??
Day 81 of 365~
Images taken today at EKO- Haus, Japanese garden in Duesseldorf
We get so busy with life that we ignore death. We celebrate distractions, the things that make us avoid the question of our own mortality on this planet and all the time treating something as natural as death as we would an avoidable inconvenience.
I wonder if this great fear stems from our lack of education, our inability to handle the unknown, not coming to terms with the inevitable, or the way our lives are more and more based in materialism.
Day 43 of 365~
Images taken somewhere on the Shanghai underground
We can sometimes as humans feel the weight of the world as events unfold around us, shudder at the uncertainty, fear the onset of darker days on this planet, but despite it all, hope lives. Even when just a tiny spark of well-being pushes us on to defy the darkness with light, the dream of a better tomorrow never dies.
Day 30 of 365
Image taken on the Brooklyn Bridge, New York
Over time I have come to believe that the simpler life is a secret key to satisfaction of the right kind. We often feel overwhelmed with our lives, with our possessions and the responsibilities that accumulate as an aftereffect of these possessions and where do we run to? A beach, a forest, a long walk, or a meditation. They say hard work is the best remedy for an idle and restless mind, and maybe something in our design needs us to be busy and rewards us with happiness.
This beautiful girl was walking along the village road with a sack of small rocks on her head that she was taking home for a small building project. I followed her for a while till she caught on and turned around and gave me this dazzling smile followed by shy giggles. I was in the presence of pure and uncomplicated happiness.
Day 15 of 365
Everyday the world gives us so many reasons to have a heavy heart. Global warming, poverty, threats of war, cruelty, disease and most recently, vulgar and unworthy leadership.
Fighting the state of affairs with a heavy heart can only feed the cause of darkness in its attempt to veil our bright world. No. We will fight it with dance, music, art, inspiration and goodness. The darkest of nights cannot extinguish the light of one single candle.
Good night from Germany.
Day 14 of 365
How perfect is a spiderweb? A little creature creating a mandala many times its size in a beautiful design that makes me gasp each time I see one. Even the rain falls in love with this great art.
How wonderful our planet can be if we only stop to notice.
Day 6 of 365
It is not enough to love your camera, to love photography and to love travel. Good portraits are about loving people, other humans, those that co-inhabit our earth. Looking at them with compassion, togetherness, curiosity and the wish to belong to this fascinating and colorful range of humanity.
