Happiness is a Rain Puddle Away~

There’s something deeply humbling about rain. Most of us scurry under umbrellas, race to shelter, or let the gloom sink into our moods. But rain is just water, falling freely from the sky—cleansing, nourishing, temporary. I’ve watched adults, including me, sigh at the forecast, as if raindrops were a punishment. And yet, a child sees the same rain and smiles. To them, it’s not a burden—it’s a playground. A puddle is not an inconvenience but an invitation.

I remember when my daughter was just two. She had these tiny red rain boots that she loved. The moment she spotted a puddle, it was as if a portal had opened to pure delight. She would leap in with full abandon, laughing at the splash, the feeling of water kissing her skin. Her joy was uncomplicated and whole. There was no hesitation, no fear of mess, only the now. Watching her reminded me of the beauty of living in the moment, of embracing what is rather than resisting it.

We tend to forget that the sun never disappears—it only hides for a while. Behind every cloud, it waits patiently. Just like our own joy, sometimes buried under stress or expectation. But if we choose to look at life with a child’s heart, we might just find joy in the puddles, even on the greyest days. Sometimes, all we need is a little splash to remember that beauty can exist in any weather.
