When I edit my photos, I set in motion a whole new process that allows me to see beyond the actual image. I begin to feel emotions and to imagine worlds that the image open doors to. So my initial photograph becomes a key, a starter and a catalyst to a brand new process. I leave myself open to what the moment suggests, what level of contrast it wants, what degree of clarity or blur, saturation or absence of color, and what lines to highlight, and inside of all this (which sometimes takes not longer than a few minutes), a new image is born, one that is layered with sketches of imagination and brush strokes of feeling. I attempt through that to marry the past with the now in anticipation of the art that might wish to join my future.

Additionally, by the help of editing the photo, I can show what I really wanted to shoot, what I imagined when I press the shutter button. As said earlier, it is definitely a part of photography.

It is really a good collection. Exciting creativity. As a documentary photographer I hardly didn’t do any editing. Now I find it adventurous to do some.
Yes, of course I understand not editing documentary photographs that need to present the truth as it is. And yes it is a great adventure to try and create moods with images.
I feel just as you do about editing, though you’ve said it so much better. Brilliant images! “Stepping into a Story” really wows me, and the last one makes me smile.

I too love to edit photographs – for me it brings the art to photography.
I edit my first drafts of fiction and they always end up better after edits so why not with photography too.
