There is a palpable sense that we are standing at the edge of something vast, or perhaps already in the middle of it. A shift, a breaking down, an unraveling that so many feel yet struggle to define. Conversations echo this sentiment everywhere—the world is showing its fractures, and the unknown looms like a shadow, stretching wider each day. Today, as I walked through the exhibition of Katharina Sieverding at K21 in Düsseldorf, I stopped at this image, a black hole—or something resembling it. My friend stood before it, unknowingly embodying the questions that arise in times of uncertainty. Black holes remain a mystery even to the most advanced scientific minds. They swallow light, distort time, and yet, somewhere beyond their event horizon, perhaps something new is born.

The unknown has always had two faces—fear and surrender. It can paralyze, or it can liberate. In a world where everything seems to be coming undone, it is easy to let the weight of uncertainty bring anxiety. But what if this unraveling is necessary? What if it is the precursor to something we cannot yet see? I find myself leaning toward the exhilaration of it all, knowing that transformation is never without turbulence. The storm rages, but within its core, in the very center of its spiraling force, there is stillness.

Perhaps we are in that stillness now, the eye of the storm, where we can observe both the chaos and the potential of what comes next. Just as black holes hold the paradox of destruction and possibility, so too does this moment we are living in. I choose to believe that on the other side of this intensity, there is something waiting to be created—something brighter, deeper, and more aligned. The unknown is not just an ending; it is also a doorway. And as we stand before it, much like this image, we have a choice: to resist or to step forward with a quiet trust in what is to come.
