Today, during a trip to Mons to visit the newly built Calatrava train station in Belgium, I found myself drawn not just to the architecture but to a moment—a fleeting alignment of lines, light, and thought. As we wandered through the station taking photos, I came across this scene: arrows painted on the floor, directing movement—forward, left, right. I had to capture it.
The image made me pause and think about life, about destiny. How every moment we stand at a crossroads, whether we notice it or not. Each step—right or left, forward or still—has the power to redirect the course of our life entirely. So, is it all already written, everything we are meant to do? Or do we have a say, a choice, at every single point to shift into a completely different version of our lives?
This has always been a question I’ve carried: that each seemingly small decision—whether to go, to stay, to say yes or no, to speak or remain silent—can unfold into a new reality, one we may never have imagined. And if that’s true, why don’t we give more weight to the choices we make? Why do we sometimes surrender our direction to others, or to inertia, instead of consciously steering our own path?
Maybe this is a reminder: that our lives are shaped moment by moment, step by step, and that responsibility lies with us. Not in a burdensome way, but in an empowering one. No one else walks our road. Only we can choose which arrow to follow.
