Vieni e Vedi – Come and See

I’m writing today’s post a little early because later this evening I’ll be at the opening of our group exhibition here in Venice. There’s a buzz in the air, a quiet tension mixed with excitement, and somehow the rainy weather has only made it more cinematic.

As I wandered through the city this morning, I was struck by the image you see above: umbrellas of every shade bobbing like jellyfish across the wet stone pavements, people queuing, waiting, wandering. Behind them, letters taped in the windows spell out VIENI E VEDI – come and see. It felt like a message from Venice itself, calling out with its usual flair of mystery and drama.

The rain didn’t deter anyone, of course. Venice is one of those cities that is already saturated with emotion and atmosphere. Add puddles, reflections, and a grey-blue mist hanging over the canals, and you get a version of Venice that feels straight out of a dream. Even the most ordinary moments here feel like poetry in motion.

Dodging umbrellas in narrow alleyways, slipping across slick bridges, the city keeps moving. And so do we, drawn to whatever it is Venice wants to show us today. Whether you’re a local, a visitor, or an artist preparing to share work with the world—Venice has a way of wrapping you in its story. One step at a time, one image at a time.
