hani woman~ Yunnan

hani woman~ Yunnan, originally uploaded by ~mimo~away in Yunnan till 9/23 ✈✈.

The Hani (an ethnic minority in Yunnan), literally means “fierce woman”. These amazing women are seen carrying incredibly large loads on their backs , working in construction of their homes, rice fields, and all kinds of hard labour. They have been a pleasure to get to know and to photograph. Most of them don’t know what to make of my camera 🙂

  2. OH Mimo.. this is surely one of the best photos you have ever taken.. I get a sense she may be hiding by closing her eyes so tightly.. A sublime photograph.. you might want to consider this http://www.npg.org.uk/photoprize1/site12/index.php for next year?

  4. What an amazing moment captured her. You must have really got to know these people very well for such precious moments to be captured in your images. Great work!

    Fantastic.

  8. Mimo, i think she may actually be blushing 🙂 She deserves to have her picture taken. Your photographs wouldn’t be this beautiful if they weren’t this humane.

  9. Terrific portrait, the hardship in the face of the woman is incredible!!! Cheers Nonoy Manga
