Day 5~ May 5th~ Cambodia

the people of Tonlé Sap

On the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia, many Cambodian and Vietnamese families float…

They live in floating villages, move around on floating boats and do almost everything on stilt houses and boats over the waters of the lake. The waters vary from one meter to 9 meters in depth depending on the time of year and on the direction of flow of the Mekong river, and the lake is a place where floating villages create a strange colorful mosaic on the surface of the water.

Being on that lake, I was highly alert the whole time and was absorbing all the incredible impressions the environment provided. I had never seen a lifestyle like that before and its strangeness and uniqueness were amazing to take in.
