Day Two Hundred Ninety, November 8, 2011

we do what we have to do

My camera and I love the street more than any other place where photography is concerned. I love watching people, strangers, being with them, walking along side of them, learning new things about humans; and in Shanghai, street photography is a pure joy. The people are by most wonderful, innocent, friendly, helpful and it all makes for an unforgettable experience. There is so much to learn from watching people, and mainly seeing what they do. People are in essence simple, they are not perfect, in the same way that no one is perfect, and they do what they have to do to get by. These are the simple parts of life I love to photograph most.

  1. That’s very good, Mimo, and the kind of monochrome toning you’ve used fits the subject exactly – good work! Adrian

  2. Yeah, pretty spot on what you’re saying about people, I most definitely share your passion for being a part of the world that surrounds me, to observe, and to learn. Really cool shot, and that clip really makes it!

  3. I wouldn’t have been able to guess where this photo was taken had there not been the clothespin on the hem of the pant (and if you hadn’t mentioned Shanghai in your blurb).
